Sosaties (Kebabs)

Lamb, impala or kudu, cut into cubes
2 large onions, thickly sliced
30ml medium curry powder
5ml turmeric
2 cloves crushed garlic
250ml apricot jam
500ml balsamic vinegar
125ml brown sugar
250g apricots soaked overnight
250 streaky bacon, cut into quarters
1 onion quartered

  • Fry the thickly sliced onions in oil
  • Add curry powder, turmeric, garlic, jam, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper
  • Cook marinade for 5 minutes
  • Cool and pour over meat
  • Assemble the sosaties on skewers: meat, apricot, onion, bacon

Cook over hot coals on the braai
